Team Nigeria for Change passes vote of confidence on Governor Sanwo-Olu

LAGOS: The leadership of Team Nigeria for Change, a pan Nigerian pressure group, has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The action, which shows the pan-Nigerian pressure group’s continued support for Sanwo-Olu is coming a few months after Sanwo-Olu kicked off his second term.

The leadership of the Team Nigerian for Change passed the vote of confidence on the governor after a meeting of zonal heads of the pressure under the leadership of Chief Bestman Nze-Jumbo at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba on Monday, August 14, 2023.

Nze-Jumbo, who addressed the zonal heads, maintained that the Team Nigeria for Change leadership had considered the performance of the incumbent Lagos governor, and resolved that there was no need to disturb the flow of governance considering his success and landmark achievements in the last three months.

They recalled that the governor had rolled out initiatives to cushion the effects of the oil subsidy removal by the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To this end, the governor had taken transportation headlong by slashing prices of fares for commuters transporting through the BRT buses and other commercial buses. In the same vein, commuters using BRT buses and other public transport means operated by Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) and Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) have been enjoying the fare cut.
The leaders also stressed that Lagos procured and took delivery of new high-capacity buses to raise the fleet of vehicles conveying civil servants from their homes to office and back.

The leadership of the group noted that the joy all over the state on the policy of free ante natal, free delivery and free Caesarean section for pregnant women in Lagos is not only noble but a notable achievement by Sanwo-Olu.

It was further agreed, by the zonal heads of the group, that these are some of the reasons that inspired TeamNigeria4Change to monitor the feelings of the people of the grassroots and ultimately pass a vote of confidence on Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

“The joy all over the state on the policy of free ante natal, free delivery and free Caesarean section for pregnant women in Lagos is not only noble but notable. These are the reasons that inspired TeamNigeria4Change to monitor the feelings of the people of the grassroots and ultimately pass a vote of confidence on Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu,” Nze-Jumbo said.

Nze-Jumbo also reiterated that recently, Sanwo-Olu opened up on plans with various stakeholders to distribute food items to vulnerable people in the State. The intervention, he said, has seen stakeholders, including civil society organisations, Local Government authorities, Community Development Associations (CDAs), Community Development Councils (CDCs), churches, mosques and traditional organisations, and pressure groups effectively distributing food items.

In his final remarks, Nze-Jumbo advised politicians masquerading as aggrieved candidates in the last governorship elections to sheath their swords and allow Sanwo-olu continue in his good strides. He also said the governor need not worry nor be distracted by the politicians cries and hues at the tribunal but to remain focused in providing good governance to the people of Lagos state, who overwhelmingly voted him for a second term
